Welcome to Knowing Ius!

Over the last year and a half, I’ve had the great fortune of building an audience of people interested in my work explaining the law to a public audience. Most of this has taken the form of Twitter/X posts, blogs, articles, and media appearances. The bulk of this writing has been in response to contemporaneous cases, explaining a new case or development in the law as it happens. I quite enjoy doing that, but I also want to write about some of the older cases and legal developments. This substack will be a place for me to do that.

Some of you may also know that I am in the process of writing a book on sex, gender identity, and the law. In the process of writing this, I wanted to go back and look at some of these threads. I realised that I was spending a lot of time trying to track things down and decided this was simply too cumbersome. So, to alleviate myself of the task of tracking all of that down, I decided to set myself a more onerous task of writing it all again.

This won’t just be a place for me to write, however. For those of you who enjoy podcasts, watch this space …
